Welborn Dimmett, Forest Park educator, dies at 68
Welborn S. Dimmett former Forest Park Public School Superintendent 1930 to 1954 died Monday at West Suburban hospital from a heart attack. He led modernization of the district and advised other systems. Survivors include his wife Lois two sons Welborn L. and Robert J four grandchildren. Funeral Thursday 11 a.m. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home. Interment Chapel Hill Gardens West. Residence 1419 Elgin.

Attendant Shot at Burke Gas Station in Chicago
Fredrick Tucker, a station attendant at 601 Harlem Avenue Burke Gas Station, was shot in the left lower abdomen by an intruder as a rainstorm began. He was rushed to Oak Park Hospital in fair condition after police, arriving from a false alarm call, found him at the station driveway.
