In Cook County's 4th Municipal District, total fines of 55,617 were collected across 18 municipalities in May. Oak Park led with 7,472, followed by Forest Park 6,836, Melrose Park 6,534, Cicero 6,155, and Berwyn 5,356. Berkeley was lowest at 699.
The west side branch of the German American National Congress will hold its annual basket picnic Sunday July 17 in the Lake Avenue Woods West forest preserve. The site is on U S 45 three miles north of Des Plaines at Euclid. All members families and friends are invited to enjoy entertainment games refreshments from 10 a m. Children under 15 receive free soft drinks and ice cream. Karl Kuhn's orchestra will provide music for singing dancing and entertainment. If rain the picnic will move to the pavilion.
Charles Burgio of Forest Park and a Western Ni chols University Macomb graduate will teach speech this fall in Fancy Prairie Dl.
Mrs Lore Delloff has been employed as a librarian at Forest Park School after six years in Westmont Public Schools. She recently returned from Japan where she served as librarian for Yokota American School at the U S Air Force Base for 1965 66. She earned a 1951 B S from the University of Wyoming and pursued further studies at Northern Illinois University University of Illinois and Chicago Teachers College.
Ten dens enjoyed Cub Scout Picnic with pinewood derby won by Mark Mueller Ricky Frewert and Mark Bentel. A treasure hunt and baseball game followed with pop and ice cream. Certificates were given to outgoing and incoming den mothers and to Mr Swan. Silver Arrow Lion and Wolf badges awarded to several scouts. Special thanks to Cubmaster Dick Cushing and den father Thomas Lao who built and donated the custom race track.
Gerald Capoot of Wood Dale died after he began gasping for breath while swimming in a private pool at 1017 Beloit owned by Harold Bill. Dr. Robert Emanuele at Oak Park Hospital declared death from coronary condition Sunday evening after artificial resuscitation and over an hour of efforts by inhalator squad Officers Broehl Schifflebein and Conklin.
Navy Seaman Recruit Dennis W. Konkowski son of Mr and Mrs Joseph P Konkowski of 1033 Marengo and Robert M Olson son of Mr and Mrs Albert G Olson of 944 Lathrop are undergoing seven weeks of basic training at the Naval Training Center San Diego California.
College rep William McFadden of 524 Circle represents Purdue University as a college board member in The Campus Emporium at Marshall Field and Company. He will be selling and counseling back to school shoppers in the Store for Men downtown store.
The Moose hosts a Saturday gathering of the Hobo Crowd with a Kangaroo Court for offenders who arrive not in clean clothes. fun is the aim as participants risk a playful jail sentence. Mulligan stew is shared, utensils provided, Don Haglund and the Ambassadors provide music. Plans for a July 24 family picnic at Altenheim Picnic Grave in Forest Park are noted.
Prizes for the Chamber of Commerce Golf Outing include a Calabash pipe from Pearce Pharmacy, shirts from Zussman's Style Shop, a large golf umbrella from Northern Illinois Gas, and spirits from local taverns. The event on July 20 at Midwest Country Club costs $9 per ticket, including golf and dinner. Tickets available from Mike Walker and other local organizers.
The Frogiso Township Teenage Republicans will host a dive and dance at Forest Park pool on July 9 from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Tickets cost $1 at the door or from TAR members. entertainment includes swimming and dancing to a live band. girls must wear bathing caps. Refreshments will be sold.
