Midweek Twilight Services At St Paul Brown Dixon

The Rev Arnold G Wulff of St Paul Lutheran Church Brown Dixon announces a series of mid week twilight services starting Wednesday July 6 and continuing each Wednesday until Aug 3 Informal worship runs 9 to 945 p m The aim is to help campers visitors and golfers attend church during the week and hear the prior Sunday sermon The church council approved the arrangement saying it serves a need in summer weekends and vacations The public is invited.

Schourastein son of Mr and Mrs Frank E Bchnerstein of 1106 Hannah has been selected for technical training at Keesler Air Force Base Mississippi as a communications electronics specialist He completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base Texas His schooling is part of Air Training Command which runs specialized courses for aerospace force personnel Schourstein graduated from Proviso East High School in 1964.

Forest Park National Bank Declares $1.00 Dividend

At a June 12 meeting Forest Park National Bank directors voted to pay a regular annual dividend of $1.00 per share. Dividends will be paid July 1 to stockholders of record June 20 1968. President Raymond S. Halajek reported five month results for 1966 showing over $2.00 per share in earnings and assets exceeding $20,000,000.

Zoning Variations Sought For Several Local Projects

The village council discussed permits and zoning variations for three building projects. Edgar Hillman Realty seeks a variation for a three flat and a private home at 1216 Elgin, plus two four room apartments at 1104 Hannah. An 8 flat at Harvard and Troost was proposed by Tom Capalety, and 1916 Des Plaines tenants will have a private pool under 210 Corp. The council noted a recently passed ordinance covers some sites.

Knox College graduate joins Peace Corps training in summer

Walter F. Winkler of Knox College Galesburg will enter Peace Corps training after graduating with honors in political science. He is the son of Mrs. Elsie Winkler and grandson of Mrs. Emily Winkler of 512 Thomas. He led student government and debated at Knox. Buddy Schwarzbach of Foremost Liquor Store won a June merchandising contest.

St John Car Wash to Support Youth Retreat

St John Lutheran Church youth group at 305 Circle will hold a car wash on July 9. The deluxe wash for one dollar includes interior vacuuming, with proceeds funding the annual retreat July 29 to 31.

Local Boys State elects two as state police officers

Two local boys were elected as officers of the State Police during Boys State in Springfield Michigan. Dennis Farrell and Robert Lambke were chosen for the citizenship project with support from the local Kiwanis club.
