James R. Thomas speaks at the Forest Park Chamber installation, praising a hundred year village milestone and urging members to consolidate gains, attract regional customers, and boost local business with village officials and industry support for 1957. He thanks the board and promises dedicated service.
District Governor Otto J. Sem will be guest speaker at the Forest Lions Club meeting on Thursday noon January 31. The group will meet at the Ranger Restaurant located at 6400 West North Avenue.
The Forest Park Board of Education will meet at p.m. Wednesday February 6 instead of the regular meeting night February 13. Prepare to live tomorrow by living every minute of today.
Richard F. Guse, a Northern Illinois State College graduate, becomes industrial arts and mathematics instructor at Forest Park Elementary, succeeding Carl Mojica. He began Monday January 28, holds a B.S. in education, and will also coach the lightweight basketball team. He lives at 241 Marengo. Blanche Kos reaches finals in Miss Photoslash contest after last Saturday’s preliminary. Finals set for February 2 at the Morrison Hotel.
Forest Park Kiwanis club will hear Sam Young assistant secretary of Illinois speak next Tuesday February 5 at the club meeting. The event highlights state government and local service.
Forest Park residents will pay no more for water as Chicago raises rates by 33 percent for suburban users. Mayor William Meyer says the village will absorb the increase, possibly asking for higher charges only from industrial users. Chicago cites a $133 million four year expansion to justify the raise.
The Forest Park Chamber of Commerce holds its first cabinet meeting with President James R. Thomas presiding. Promotion chairman Phil Golsden will report on the January 22 installation banquet and committee appointments for the year will be discussed. All directors are urged to attend.
Forest Park residents and neighboring school officials are invited to view the renovated Field Stevens on Sunday February 10 from 2 to 4 pm. The 925 Beloit site will be open for inspection and refreshments will be provided by Field Stevenson and Junior High PTA parents.
