High Honors for Local Navy Unit
The Surface Division of the Forest Park Naval Reserve Training Center received its annual administrative inspection. Commanded by Com. N. RB. Glass, USNR, the unit was congratulated for its training record. Ninth Naval District representatives audited organization records and programs, over 130 personnel were inspected, and final grades may place the unit in National Honors competition.

Christmas Cards For Retarded Kids Help Seguin School
Mrs. Herbet Burtar of the Legion Auxiliary collected almost 2,000 Christmas cards for Seguin School Berwyn to aid occupational therapy. The unit voted funds to promote the program, and residents of Normal Illinois will get a Washington’s Birthday party with ice cream and trimmings. Ex servicemen children and wards remain in state care, with donations and holiday tokens to hospitals and homes. A January jar favors project by Juniors and plans for social at Mrs Nicholas Schank’s in February. Proviso East Band Parents Association scholarships funded. An accident left Mrs Margaret Osborne with injuries in Jacksonville, Florida. Joe and Dorothy Santroni left the group for new assignments with the Veterans Administration. Spaghetti dinner set for February 4 at Memorial Hall.
