State Treasurer William J. Scott announced a plan to invest $5 million of State funds in State Savings and Loans, with North America Savings among the first three Illinois depositories. The Forest Park Recreation Board meets to finalize a Tot Playground approved by the Village Council. Mayor Mohr announced state negotiations completed. The park on Cirela west of the bridge will serve children up to seven and open in early spring with equipment purchased. Other playgrounds include Randolph Circle and 16th Circle.
Roy E. Curran, treasurer of Suburban Oil and Forest Park pioneer, elected as director of Forest Park National Bank at the Jan 12 shareholders meeting. Re elected were the bank's ten other directors and principal officers led by Howard F. Sammon as president and chairman. The 1964 annual report showed record earnings of $4.42 per share and a near million rise in resources, with additional real estate expansion.
James G. Gilkey Jr. of the Welfare Council of Metropolitan Chicago will speak at the 15th annual Proviso Family Service Association meeting. The poverty program is the main topic. New board members will be introduced and Dorothy Deeds, executive director, will report on services amid a growing community. Refreshments will be served.
Residents planning to vote in the April 6 township election must be registered. The Village Clerk office at 517 Desplaines will hold registration on March 2 4.
Members of the Suburban Schools and Municipal Employees Local 11 elected Duane E. Glos of 114 Marengo as Steward at Proviso East.
The Grant White PTA meets Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. to discuss behavior problems at school and home. Refreshments will be served.
The six additional stores with rear parking have been purchased and are now being rehabilitated for banking and commercial use.
Reservations show a record crowd for the 26th annual Chamber of Commerce banquet at Bond's Supper Club in Berwyn. The Jan 30 event features Lois and Ray Hughes as entertainers, a 7 30 dinner, round tables, prizes from local merchants, and tickets at 17 dollars per couple. Only 550 seats available.
