Tour of Forest Park Band Room Set for Parents Meeting

Forest Park Junior High will host a tour of the new band room for band parents on Thursday January 10 as the Band Parents club meets at the school. Refreshments are organized by Mrs Richard Baikie. Students earn points based on parent attendance with 18 points for both parents 10 for one. Awards are given at the spring concert.

Remodeling of Grade School Nears Completion

Remodeling work at Field Stevenson Elementary School on Belost Avenue is nearing completion with most classrooms ready and the lunch room due to open January 21 serving soup and sandwiches. Mrs Paul Spacewski will operate the lunch room. The library, seating 38, may become a south side branch of the village library coordinated by Miss Josephine Austin Forest Park librarian.

Lentini Relocates Barber Shop to Madison Street

Vito Lentini moved his barber shop from 632 Desplaines to 7618 Madison last week. The new shop has two chairs and modern equipment. Lentini served Desplaines for 24% years and formerly on Harrison Street. He has lived in Forest Park for 32 years.

Anonymous donor funds Park Board with $1500

The Park Board of Forest Park received $1500 in five hundred dollar bills from an unknown contributor. Treasurer Ralph Abel says three installments arrived over six months and a note reading back taxes accompanied the latest gift. Funds were used to light Harrison street and remodel the park fountain.

Committee Named At PTA Meeting For Open House

At the January 7 PTA meeting a committee was formed to plan the open house for the new Field Stevenson Junior High School. Members are Supt. Robert Pruitt Mr. Strotz Mrs. Holian Mrs. White and Mrs. Hamilton. Date to be announced.

Lions Club to View Submarine Cable Film

Members of the Forest Lions will view a short color film on laying submarine cable at the club meeting Thursday noon January 10 in the Swedish Dining room River Forest.

Proviso Evening School Announces Spring Term

Adults in the west suburbs can choose from more than 60 courses for the Proviso evening school spring term. Registration runs 7 15 to 9 45 p m on Monday Wednesday and Thursday January 14 16 17 and 21 and 23 at Proviso Township High School Library. Classes start February 4 and continue to May 1.

Dr. Donald Platt lifelong Forest Park resident begins ophthalmology practice at Forest Park Medical Building at Circle and Madison 7318 Madison. He studied at Illinois Medical School after a B S, interned at Cook County Hospital, and trained at Hines Veterans Hospital with eye surgery and refraction work plus University of Illinois research.
