James Thomas New President of Forest Park Chamber

James R. Thomas was elected president of the Forest Park Chamber of Commerce at the November meeting. He is president of Forest Home Cemetery Co and director of the Cemeteries Association of Greater Chicago, living with wife and children at 1023 Des Plaines. Other officers named: Howard Mohr first vice president Louis Calcagno second vice president Edward Sterr treasurer.

Christmas Candlelight Concert at St John Lutheran

Three choirs from St John Lutheran present a Christmas story in anthems carols and scripture readings at 7 30 p m Sunday December 4 at the church. Gerhardt Becker directs and Theodore Lams organist head of Northwestern university music dept will guest. Choirs total 116 voices and the concert is open to the public.

Springfield trip to witness Walker induction event

A Forest Park committee schedules an Installation Trip to Springfield for Claude A. Walker by bus special Pullman rail cars January 8 to 9. The itinerary includes dinner at Leland Hotel, a 11:30 a.m. Capitol swearing in, luncheon with Master of Ceremonies Lloyd W. Leehman, and return to Union Station with tickets from Howard Sammon Fred Rose Ed Trage Lloyd Lehman or Phil Golden.

Birthday Celebration for Donald Goodman

Donald Goodman celebrated his 14th birthday on December 1 at 938 Circle. Attendees included Mr and Mrs Schwartzbach his aunt and uncle Mr and Mrs Kantor and his grandfather Arnold Goodman. They enjoyed steak dinner and birthday cake.

Yale Program Planned Sunday At Proviso High

Under new director Irwin Bell Proviso Township High School concert orchestra will present its annual Christmas program at 3 15 p m Sunday Dec 8 in the auditorium Proviso girls chorus assists. Mendelssohn Grundman and Anderson works highlight the program with Three Songs for Christmas and Christmas Festival included. Robert Feller sophomore soloist in Mendelssohn Piano Concerto in D minor has appeared with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra and now accompanies the choir Eli Lerner and Judye Klean are student instrumentalists Janet Matthews and Julien Tredra join on cello.

G Elden Simpson has disposed of his interest in Acme Feeds Inc located at 7715 Van Buren Forest Park. Swift and Co will assume most Acme properties in the village under a lease arrangement. Mr Simpson stated he will be naturalized in this transition.

Reward offered for information on Concordia Cemetery vandalism

A $100 reward is posted for information leading to the arrest of vandals who damaged Concordia Cemetery last Sunday night. Officers say intruders entered near the west edge around So'clock, overturned 88 tombstones, damaged structures, and fired shots, with no insurance coverage and an ongoing investigation.

Cottage meetings at St John Lutheran conclude this Friday

A series of cottage meetings for the St John Lutheran Church congregation runs through Friday with 80 gatherings held in various homes since last Wednesday. About 1 000 attendances and laymen leaders guided discussions on the theme Go and Teach.

Santa Claus will arrive in Forest Park on Saturday at 10 oclock atop a bright truck to usher in the Christmas season. He will tour streets for three hours greeting village youngsters. Merchants plan a later big party with gifts and prizes.

Garden Club Christmas Story Meeting

A Garden club gathering on December 12 at 1 p.m. in Library Hall features a Christmas story read by Mrs. Hornak and a gift exchange. Hostesses for the day are Mrs. Hornak Mrs. Kiener Mrs. Ham mel and Mrs. Kraus. Members should bring fruits flowers and plants for the Christmas project.
