Simpson Killed in Vietnam Amid War Casualties
William J. Simpson, 22, of Forest Park and son of Eugene and Janet Simpson, was killed in Vietnam while serving as a crew chief on a military aircraft. His plane was shot down in combat. he had lived in Forest Park 15 years and attended Proviso High School before enlisting in 1965. Survivors include his parents, brother Eugene Jr, sister-in-law Barbara, and a nephew Eugene. He was to be married to Kathy Lueder.

Proviso High Board Seeks Tax Hike To Budget Needs
Proviso Township High School District No. 209 plans a special election on December 14 to approve a 21 percent increase in the educational tax rate and 125 percent in the building tax rate. Superintendent Dr Norman S Green says bond issues will not be pursued and most of the tax hike will not be used in the coming year. He notes historic fund surpluses have eroded, salaries rise, and building needs at Proviso East Fieldhouse and Proviso West require attention.

Donahue serves on USS Ticonderoga in Vietnam action
Jeffrey A. Donahue USN son of Mrs. Goldie Donahue of Elgin is serving aboard the attack aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga at Long Beach California. The ship conducted air strikes against enemy defenses in Vietnam and supported U S and Allied ground forces. It became the first attack carrier to complete four combat missions off Vietnam and earned three Navy Unit Commendations in four years.
