Proviso Township trustees meet at Forest Park State Bank office on a Tuesday evening and authorize creating a new Westchester district. Officer Fires at Burglar in Madison Street Store

Madison Park police officer Maurice Jucaha fired four shots at a burglar inside the Madison Tire and Battery Station at 7238 Madison Street early Wednesday. Three bullets hit woodwork, the fourth may have struck the thief who fled through a rear exit. neighbors heard sounds between 4 and 5 am. The store had been robbed two weeks earlier through the rear, with staples and padlock sawed to gain entry.
