Forest City Company formed to handle bank real estate assets

M W Harriss, former officer of Farmers Bank and Company, explains Forest City Company was organized by the bank’s directors to hold real estate assets. The holding firm could dispose of property, issue stock, and issue notes to cover bank real estate values. Rents paid taxes and insurance, and some bank indebtedness was reduced. Harriss claims no salaries or benefits were taken and he did not own Forest City stock.
