Water reduces bacteria count in air observations
In Paris scientists measured airborne germs before and after rain showing large drops with moisture. On a wet afternoon 3800 germs per cubic meter versus 16000 on a dry time. Paris subway sprinkling lowered counts to 410 per cubic meter, rising to 68000 when dry two hours later. Officials urge dust suppression using calcium chloride for moisture retention and germ killing.
