Floresville Lodge Hosts Large Masons Gathering

Floresville Lodge No. 515 A F and A M drew one of Wilson and Karnes counties' largest Masonic crowds. Burt Cameron received the Master’s Degree with Nat M. Washer of San Antonio assisting. Army Lodge Fort Sam Houston members and Seguin quartet provided music. Speeches praised officers and committees for excellent entertainment. In sports, Floresville Cubs beat Poth Bobcats 5 to 2, with upcoming games against Happy Youth of San Antonio and St. Anthony Hotel.

Bud Tanneberger Loses Store and Home in Fire

Bud Tanneberger, who ran a store at Fairview west of here, lost his house and stock in a fire at about 3 am yesterday. The family was at home, delaying sleep, and a window in the store building was found open though the cause is unclear. some suggest possible arson.

Seguin hosts highway opening and watermelons story

Floresville Woman Named Alternate Delegate in 18th District

Mrs. L. B. Wiseman of Floresville named as alternate delegate by prohibition forces in Austin to represent dry interests in the 18th senatorial district. Her name appears on the August ballot as delegates to a state convention November 24 to cast Texas vote on repeal of the 18th amendment. Wiseman long active in temperance and helped organize the W C T U locally.

Lutheran College Choir Readers Here Tuesday

On Tuesday June 27 the Texas Lutheran College Choir led by Prof H Gibson performed at First Lutheran Church Floresville. The program featured sacred hymns with solos and instrumental pieces to a full house praised for high standard. The choir departed Wednesday noon for Pearsall en route to Hondo on a long itinerary.

Funeral Rites Held for W H Keister in Fairview

W H Keister 74 died at home in Fairview Tuesday June 7 1933 after a long illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:30 p m with burial in Rock Church Cemetery. He was born Oct 24 1858 near Little Rock Arkansas and lived most of his life in Wilson County. He is survived by six children, two sons and four daughters. his wife preceded him about 25 years ago. He was reared by Billie Coughran, a respected longtime resident. The article notes his birthplace, marriage, and family details. County Agent Beck to Return Saturday

The Chronicle Journal learns from a telegram from County Agent F D Beck that he has been summoned back from the World’s Fair in Chicago to lead the cotton acreage retirement campaign in the county. He is expected to arrive in Floresville Friday evening.
