Democratic Exec Committee Meeting in Wilson County Texas

The Democratic Executive Committee of Wilson County Texas met June 16 1930. With no quorum the session recessed until 1 30 p m. At 1 30 p m the meeting resumed with members listed and a vacancy filled in Precinct No 24. A long ballot drawing named candidates for United States Senator Lieutenant Governor Attorney General State Comptroller Public Instruction Commissioner of Agriculture General Land Office State Railroad Commissioner and other posts with multiple county affiliations. The Chronicle Journal urges readers to review the Wilson County Fair premium list and plan to exhibit farm products and canned goods this fall.

Candidate For Attorney General Visited Floresville

Hon Cecil Storey of Vernon, a Texas attorney general candidate, spent Wednesday night and Thursday morning in Floresville detailing his statewide campaign. Storey, a state representative, is opposing incumbent Robert Lee Bobbitt and challenger James Allred for the July primary.

South Texas Chamber Officials Visit Floresville on Trip

South Texas Chamber of Commerce manager Ray Lee and assistant manager E H Whitehead stopped in Floresville Tuesday morning on a business trip from San Antonio en route to Corpus Christi. They praised Floresville’s chamber growth and diversification during a brief office visit.

Rural Route 1 Extension Set for July First

Postmaster Wm Reese reports a U S Post Office Department change effective July 1 1930 extending rural route No 1 from Floresville by about 1 1/2 miles east with I J Ferguson as carrier. The expansion will serve several additional patrons on the Cibo extension, totaling roughly 3 5 miles of route.

Floresville receives standout rainfall in past week

Floresville and nearby areas recorded a strong rainfall week with 1.98 inches from Thursday to Sunday, including .82 inches in a portion of the period. The report highlights the impressive total in the Floresville locality.

Farmers of Wilson County Join Texas Cotton Co operative Plan

Corpus Christi Texas June 17 Farmers in Wilson County gather to enroll in the Texas Cotton Co operative Association part of the American Cotton Co operative Association. Corpus Christi American Legion plans big July barbecue day

Farmers Rallying to Cotton Co-Operative Assn

Farmers in the county rally to the Cotton Co-Operative Association as meetings continue statewide. Marketing contracts are being signed and the campaign winds down with a closing event scheduled for Saturday.

Seguin Texas June 12 preliminary census figure shows Poth population in Wilson County as 444 as of April 1 1930. The count is preliminary with possible corrections and notes no separate 1920 listing for this area. There were 12 farms enumerated in the district.

Judge W. O. Murray of Llst Judicial District presides in Tilden McMullen county this week on bench exchange with Judge T. M. Cox of Beeville. Cox now sits in Karnes City while Murray handles cases in Beeville due to Cox disqualification from certain trials.

Local Gulf agent resigns as district manager in town

Greathouse resigns as the Gulf Refining Co local representative after years of service and health issues. A. C. Eschenburg becomes company agent here, continuing at Franklin Chevrolet. New manager is a well known local businessman, previously manager of City Service Stations. Farmers report rapid ripening of black eyed peas and increasing shipments from Floresville and Poth, with prepack and pricing adjustments to discourage green peas in loads. Green corn shipments continue as cantaloupes and tomatoes move to market through Floresville Chamber efforts.

Cotulla Man Appointed District Court Reporter in La Salle

A Cotulla man was named district court reporter for the 81st Judicial District, succeeding Leverett. The appointment, announced by Judge Murray, places the new reporter in La Salle County with prior service as county attorney. The decision follows Harrie Churchilly’s death last year and reflects ongoing district staffing changes.
