Kolodziej Produce Inc in Path Texas marked its 50th anniversary on June 17 1986. Established June 17 1936 by Louis Sr and wife, the firm moved to its current building in 1946 and is now run by Louis Jr and son-in-law Leo Schneider.
Last Wednesday James Van Horn became manager of Winn's Store in Floresville. He brings 33 years of retail experience from other stores. The Floresville Gay Pool will close at 4 00 p m on Wednesday June 18 to prepare for a swim meet. Regular hours will resume afterward.
The Floresville Downtown Association met Thursday evening June 12 to set goals for advertising, coordinated sales, and seminars. Polly Bayer, chair, announced a new logo and stationery and participation in Heritage Week next month. The city will work on mosquito control and elimination efforts.
Floresville City Council met on Thursday June 12 and approved an ordinance lowering Highway 181 speed limits. The council discussed police conduct and jail operations with public input and instructed City Manager Benito Lopez to consult with Gary Shank on forcing Longridge Subdivision improvements to meet city standards. The body renewed the delinquent tax contract with Calame and Linebarger, approved subdivision ordinance changes extending driveways to the curb, and sent Marvin Roemer to Investigator School if funds remain. They also reviewed land deed plans for Pecan Park and an agreement between the Little League and Bluebonnet League to reserve the City Park baseball field.
On Saturday June 21 at 9 00 in the morning residents are invited to join a school workday at Sunnyside School. Volunteers will assist with grounds clean up minor repairs and organizing supplies. The event aims to prepare the campus for summer programs and upcoming fall activities.
On June 7 1986 Lee Connally was selected 4th runner-up in the Face of the 80s for Men event held in New York and Rye New York. The finals at Rye Town Hilton showcased 13 finalists from 35 000 entrants with sponsorship by Gentlemen's Quarterly Ford Models and Gillette. Connally represented Dallas via agent Kim Dawson and appeared in multiple shoots and press events including Good Morning America.
Lee Connally has appeared in Texas Monthly and San Antonio Monthly, Frost Omnibus and several papers. He has done TV commercials for KLLS radio Joske's Auto TV and Polar Ice, and acted in an ABC Movie for Television My Two Loves. He plans a Los Angeles magazine layout in about 10 days after five weeks in Europe as a model and is the son of Merrill Connally of Floresville, born and raised there, a 1981 Floresville High graduate.
Floresville gears up for Heritage Week July 6 to 13 with a downtown Fair on the 12th featuring a Homemade Food Sale inviting local growers to sell produce. A kids carnival, folk art demonstrations, crafts, blacksmithing, and a mini folklife showcase fill the schedule. A co-ed volleyball tourney and parish picnic are planned for Sunday the 13th with hospital sponsorship and city park evening matches.
