Darlene Sickenius Receives H W Filleman Scholarship

Darlene Sickenius, a 1986 Floresville graduate, received the $500 H W Filleman Scholarship from the Floresville Lions Club on June 20. She is the daughter of Monroe C Sickenius and Charlene Sickenius and will attend TLC in Seguin.

The First National Bank of Poth has awarded scholarships of 2000 dollars each to students. Cynthia Jroombek has by srn to help further the bo geant of a deserving boy. The funds may be used at any direct college.

Floresville police log reports two burglaries this week

In Floresville during June 16 to June 23, a house on the 1800 block of C Street was burglarized with a console television stolen. A second break in on the 900 block of Sth Street saw a lawn mower stolen. A 32 year old man was questioned and stolen property recovered.

Hospital Hosts Domestic Violence Presentation June 26 1986

Wilson Memorial Hospital will host a Domestic Violence Awareness Presentation on Thursday June 26 1986. Laura Grimsinger director of the Guadalupe Women's Shelter Seguin Texas will explain family violence and services for Wilson County women and children. Law enforcement officials and shelter staff from nearby stations will attend. The Guadalupe County Women’s Shelter provides confidential counseling information and referrals.

Exxon Service Station Changes Ownership and Remodel

Exxon Service Station on Highway 181 has a new owner Ray Lamberth who also runs Cow Camp Bar-B-Q. The A-1 Service Center will offer minor repairs oil changes and tire work with Exxon full service gas and upcoming car washing Sunday hours and extended hours after remodeling.

Runoff Tie in Park Naming Contest Leaves Two Parks Equal

Wilson County 4-H members shine at state roundup

Eleven Wilson County 4-H members competed at the State 4-H Roundup held June 10 to 12 at Texas A and M College Station. Kevin Chilek received an $8,000 scholarship from the San Antonio Livestock Exposition Inc. for the opening assembly. Beverly Hummel and Codi Hartman of Stockdale 4-H placed third in Beef Cattle Method Demonstration on brucellosis, coached by Hartman and Verdi Hummel. The Wilson County rifle team, including Rex Eiserer, Chuck Jenschke, Jason Little, and Aldon Lussy, placed 10th under coach Mike Biserer.
