Federal Farm Board cotton representative clearly outlined plans and purposes of cooperative. Many South Texas counties represented. Williams stressed cooperation and unity in promoting farmer interests at the Corpus Christi gathering held Tuesday.
Approximately 800 farmers and business men from Floresville to Corpus Christi attended a 1:30 PM briefing on the Federal Farm Board in a large tabernacle. Hon. Carl Williams delivered a forceful overview of the board’s purposes and plans, with a receptive audience from nearly every county in District No. 5. The Corpus Christi Caller later published a detailed account of his address.
Frank B. Vaughan, Texas district census supervisor, supplied the Chronicle-Journal with preliminary fifteenth census counts for the City of Stockdale and Wilson county precincts. Stockdale records show 6967 residents. precinct totals include 21 481 for Precinct 2 with 044 farms, 81 347 with 268 farms, Precinct 4 1388 with 792 farms, Precinct 5 2504 with 384 farms, and combined Stockdale area 2207 with 902 farms.
Fior esville Chamber of Commerce directors announce the regular monthly meeting will be held tonight at 8 o'clock at the organization's office. The change to Friday night meetings was approved, with attendance urged by President Sheehy and Secretary Wells.
Last Friday afternoon a heavy local rain measured 1.15 inches, covering a wide area west of here and part of the south while the east received little to none. Corn benefited in spots though the rain did not reach all areas, and some crops may be shorter than expected without further rain.
The Floresville American Legion Post No. 38 will stage an old-time dance at the Fair Grounds next Thursday night June 12. Wilson and adjoining counties are invited to attend with a program featuring heel and toe polka Paul Jones Rye Waltz Schottische quadrille and other dances. Good music and a social evening are promised.

A county wide mass meeting of cotton farmers and business men is set for Floresville Court House Saturday at 2 p m A Texas Cotton Co-Operative Association representative will explain the new marketing system under the Federal Farm Board leadership The meeting aims to organize in Wilson County with a county chairman named and action taken promptly to benefit farmers and merchants in the coming season
In 150 acres of tomatoes only 55 acres were harvested for shipment, hurting buyers but yielding a small profit under adverse conditions. Growers plan a stronger push for acreage next year while Gulf Vegetable and Fruit Co. riffs on returning buyers. Green corn shipments continue, with first roasting ears now ripening and expected peas to arrive by mid next week as farmers prepare for harvest.
The meeting at the Methodist church continues through this week closing on Sunday night. Services for Sunday appear in regular notices. Invites the town to attend and bring people to church. Pastor A A Carter urges all who sing to join the choir to help the town be blessed.
The Wilson County Poultry Producers Association met last Monday night at the Chamber of Commerce office with about 25 members attending. W F Taylor of San Antonio spoke on Developing Pallets, stressing foundation stock, feeding, housing, and sanitation. A committee was named to explore sub canning station options and to recruit more members as monthly meetings continue to be profitable and engaging.
The five month old son of Mr and Mrs George Searle of this city died in Silsbee East Texas on May 22. The child rolled from a bed and was strangled between the bed and wall when parents returned home. The family recently lived here with Mr Searle employed by Franklin Chevrolet Co. He is brother of Mrs A J Postert near this city.
S. W. Seale of Gonzales arrives Tuesday to reside in Linton and assume duties as city schools head, filling the vacancy left by F. H. Harrison. His first task is directing the summer school opening Monday for pupils to make up back work or take on new work. The Seales will reside at Seie Wie Mes. Seale and
Legionnaires voted Tuesday night to stage a big affair featuring barbecue speeches a baseball game and other entertainment. The event invites the entire county to take part and will be held on July Fourth here.
The Floresville Chamber of Commerce will hold its regular meeting Tuesday night June 10 at 8 oclock in the chamber office next to the post office Attendance prizes will be awarded by Reade Eschenburg and Ellinghausen Teltschik Dry Goods Co This program draws interest with possible outside speakers and includes discussion on Cheese Making in Wilson County by Mr Schultz of San Antonio formerly of Wisconsin, plus other topics of importance to members
Miss Fahey Falks of Houston, about 17, accidentally shot herself in the left thigh while examining a pistol at the home of her uncle E. N. Falks in Floresville. The 47.32 caliber automatic pistol passed through her leg into the floor. Her condition was reported as satisfactory and improving. Floresville American Legion Post No. 38 met at the courthouse with over 40 members, planning a grand July 4th celebration featuring a barbecue, music, speeches, baseball, and a ball. Proceeds will benefit the Legion. a reunion of ex-service men from the county was planned as a highlight.
The Floresville Cemetery Association will meet Friday June 13 at 4 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Woo Murray Jr. All members are cordially invited and urged to attend.
