A and M Judge Praises Wilson County Dairy Day Show

Wilson County Farm Bureau sponsored the first Dairy Day in Wilson County last Friday May 28 with 12 exhibitors and 22 dairy cattle. Attendance was about 400, including dairymen families 4 H and FFA boys and training classes. Judges praised cattle quality and show arrangements, noting strong cooperation from exhibitors and visitors.

The Floresville Church of Christ hosts a Homecoming on June 6 inviting all, especially former members. Morning services precede a dinner at Highway Park by the river. An 8 o'clock church singing event will follow.

Community drive ends June 11 to re organize the Floresville public schools Athletic Council. Campaign chair Dr E R Shadden and leaders plan a 100 member count, with new officers elected at a June 11 re organization meeting at the courthouse. Coach Ralph Starnes will return as head coach for the next term.

I B Ray Wins Soil Conservation Plaque in Wilson County

I B Ray, president of the Wilson County Farm Bureau and noted dairyman, is named one of Texas Master Farmers for 1947-48. Fort Worth Press sponsored the statewide contest Save The Soil and Save Texas, with Lions Clubs awarding plaques in Floresville and San Antonio. John Temple of Black Hill also receives the same honor, recognizing outstanding soil conservation work and practices.

Richard Bolf of Floresville, owner of Bolf's Service Station, announced Tuesday his candidacy for Wilson County tax assessor collector in the upcoming July Democratic primary on July 24. He is a WWII Army Air Corps veteran, Floresville High School graduate, and has prior local business experience. He has two children and is married.

Floresville Lions and guests gathered Tuesday evening for a Pleasanton Charter Banquet Nite celebrating the new Pleasanton Club with 37 members. Floresville Implement Co Demonstration Barbecue Draws Five Hundred

Floresville implement firm hosts a large demonstration and barbecue at the State Highway Park on the San Antonio river attracting about 500 attendees. The morning field demo showcased 15 Dearborn farm implements over two hours led by D R Carpenter with E V Lyons assisting. Floresville Implement Co manager Bryan Adams organized proceedings. A noon barbecue followed with special guests including County Farm Agent C L Cook. prizes awarded to attendees. Kosciusko School Board Elects at Schoal Closing

Kosciusko Independent School District ends term with Emil Pruske elected president and Frank Kolodziej as secretary. Other board members include Steve Kotara Henry Lyssy Henry Pruske John Lyssy and Henry Kyrish. All teachers re contracted for two years. Report cards and promotion certificates issued. Perfect attendance awards go to Rose Marie Lyssy Susan Lyssy and Lillian Laskowski. Honor roll lists by grades feature many Lyssy, Korzekwa, Pruske, Wiatrek and Dzuik members.

Union Valley Homecoming Set for June 13 at Schoolhouse

The Union Valley community urges former residents of Union Valley in Wilson County to return for the annual homecoming at the Union Valley schoolhouse on Sunday June 13. Attendees are asked to bring a full basket for a noon picnic dinner. The day will feature short speeches music old time singing visiting and reminiscing as former citizens cross over the river.
