Carroll County Sunday School Union Holds Annual Convention
The 39th Carroll County Sunday school union convention met in Delphi on May 15 and 17. Prof. Stanley M. Coulter of Purdue spoke, and Prof. E L Hendricks presented biblical quiz results. Reports covered 62 Sunday schools, 759 officers and teachers, 5425 enrollment, and 8210 average attendance. Delegates elected M Sterling as president and M M Murphy as secretary treasurer for 1906.

The Baum couple Mr and Mrs James Baum formerly of Yeoman headline a bicycle act on a wire two hundred feet high. Their four month Clark and Lewis exposition engagement pays 3400 dollars and adds them to top tier performers. They also performed at the St Louis fair now.

Sad death of a little child Dorothy Baech at Winona Lake
Dorothy, 5, daughter of Rev Edward Baech and Mrs Baech, Delphi Presbyterian pastor, died after a cherry seed lodged in her windpipe during a visit at Winona Lake. An eminent physician operated but she lingered until about 11 PM. The family learned of the tragedy by telegram near midnight.

Approaching Love Feast Sets Large Gathering Near Flora
The German Baptist Brethren national conference will meet June 10 to 12 at Willis Flora grove east of Flora with thousands expected from nearly every state. Two 5,000 seat tabernacles and horse tie racks are prepared. the local church feeds attendees. A Frankfort man has a contract for 7,000 loaves of bread and about twenty five beeves will be needed. Prominent US elders are expected. 20,000 to 30,000 may attend Sunday services. Reverend E A Arthur of Washington Indiana visited with his uncle in Wheeling. Christian church services and Bible school are announced with multiple activities and evening sermons. You are invited.

Death of Jesse McGarty 25 Tuberculosis Hero of Philippines
Jesse McGarty died at his twin brother Frank McCarty's home after a two week illness from pulmonary tuberculosis. He was 25 and formerly of Frankfort, now buried there after funeral by the Red Men. He served over two years in the Philippines with Capt. Allen's company. He is survived by a twin brother in Flora and siblings in Frankfort. parents preceded him in death.

Town Board Grants Franchise For Air Line Traction
The town board grants a fifty year franchise to the Indianapolis and Chicago Air Line Traction company to build maintain and operate a line on Willow street. Construction must start in Flora within two years and be in operation within three. A governor’s letter says work begins in Indianapolis this summer.

Cutler Woman Files for Divorce After Infamous Crime Conviction
Frank Rateliff, already convicted of assault and burglary with William Homer in Sedalia, faces divorce proceedings from his wife near Cutler. They wed September 19 1903 and separated August 16 1914, the date of his arrest, with the wife aiding his defense during the trial.

Con Chittick's remarkable east Carroll horse
A farmer, A. M. Chittick, owns a four year old horse in Carroll County named Jim Keyes II. The animal mimics the famed Jim Keyes by acting educated and is said to prefer beefsteak bread and butter gravy onions pickles and crackers over corn oats and hay. It also enjoys ice cream and chewing tobacco. Despite attracting attention he has refused large offers to sell the animal.

Tax Ferrets After Ferguson
J. H. Ferguson, living on the Tippecanoe river, is pursued by White and Carroll county tax ferrets. Assessors from both counties have previously entertained each other as Ferguson’s farm straddles the river making residence hard to pin down. Over 24 years he has been assessed only a few times for personal property and carries notes and mortgages totaling about $8,000.
