At a depth of about 600 feet the Pyrmoot Oil & Gas Company struck gas on Sunday morning and later a small flow of oil. The drill continued, reaching about 725 feet by Monday. A full day was lost as the drill bent and a portion of the hole had to be filled before resuming.

Robert Warne aged 23 from Chicago, recently in Kokomo, died New Years Day by self inflicted revolver shot. He left a note to lawmen stating his reason was inability to conquer whiskey. He hailed from a prominent Hammond family. Michael Miller, father of Bert Miller who once lived here, died at his Frankfort home Tuesday evening at 72, a respected pioneer of Clinton county with many friends.
