Abel dies from gunshot wounds in Idaho saga
James Robert Abel 46 prominent farmer died Monday from blood poisoning after a gunshot wound to the leg allegedly inflicted by neighbor Homer Ramseyer a Twin Falls area rancher Ramseyer is free on a $10 000 bond charged with first degree murder following a preliminary probate hearing The incident stemmed from a water dispute at Abel’s north of Filer ranch and testimony varied over the shooting Abel denied provoking the attack Several witnesses were present Ramseyer allegedly used a 38 caliber revolver Abel underwent medical care at Filer and Twin Falls doctors but succumbed Monday morning Funeral services were held at the Abel home and later at the Methodist church in Filer Abel born February 4 1874 in Arkansas is survived by a wife and eleven children including minors He was a Woodmen of the World member.

Picnic outings mark end of term for Artesian school groups

Piler Commercial Club President Attends State Meeting
J. M. Markel president of the Piler Commercial Club returned from Pocatello where he co presented the state convention of commercial club secretaries and presidents. He says the meeting was successful and beneficial to attendees. A state organization was formed though he could not stay for the second day. Names of state officers N. B. Wight and Joseph Tanner were not reported by him. Secretaries from Twin Falls and Bahl chambers attended. Delegates from southern Idaho commercial bodies were present and guests of the Chamber of Commerce at a Tuesday night event.

Twin Falls county Farm Bureau officials report a California concern canvassing in Twin Falls County and selling inoculation cultures for crops like alfalfa and clover at a price far above University of Idaho material. Bacteria are sold to farmers at about 32.00 per acre, while Idaho University Bacteriology Department offers a sufficient supply for 250 per acre. Idaho Extension Service confirms University material is as effective as higher priced options. Farm Home and Barn Burned Near Here
The farm home of M. H. Buck, located southwest of town, burned Wednesday afternoon April 28 along with the barn. The house valued at 2000 dollars and the barn at 1000 dollars were destroyed despite insurance of 1400 dollars. A defective flue in the attic is blamed for the blaze aided by a high wind. An adjacent house about 80 rods away reportedly caught fire seven times but suffered no damage. Lester Musser, local sport enthusiast, will referee 26 rounds of matches scheduled in Twin Falls tomorrow night.

Filer tied for fifth among eleven schools as Burley led with first, Twin Falls second, Muhl third, Gooding fourth. Events included sprints, hurdles, jumps, pole vault, shot put, and relay races. Melvin Blackburn of Filer cleared high jump height with a ninth attempt. Ora Aman placed third in the 100 and second in the 50 yard dash before disqualification for stepping out of alley. Next year’s meet may be in Twin Falls area. Thomas Kelley served as umpire and a former Chicago and Missouri coach spoke about clean athletics.

Kaesers Leave For Switzerland Heading Home
Mr and Mrs John Kaeser and their three daughters depart Philadelphia for Duerrenroth canton Borne Switzerland. They will visit friends in Arst Winennsin before sailing from New York on the American Line to Cherbourg France then rail to their old home in Switzerland. This marks the Kaeser family’s fifth Atlantic crossing since 1892. The Gem Theater shows an extraordinary moving picture about the Filer Cheese factory farm by Harry Carey next Wednesday.
