Filer Schools Set to Close Friday May 7

The Filer schools will close May 7 with weeklong activities, exams, and a grade school exhibit Patrons Day. The Rural High School will hold written exams Monday and Tuesday and a monster picnic Thursday at Clear Lakes. No Rural High School graduation due to influenza curriculum delays.

J C Wheelon general manager of the Twin Falls Canal company visits farms urging irrigation now. He notes a large Snake River flow not harnessed by Milner dam and warns the rise of water must be gradual to moisten canal banks while maximizing water use. Grass crops should be watered promptly.

Allsberry Deaths by Own Action Quiet Farm Tragedy

Funeral services were held for J. J Allsberry of Wilder in Twin Falls county after he committed suicide Saturday morning in his garage. Survived by a wife and four children, the family includes Mel Walker Norman Ailsberry Horace Allsberry. His wife reported he was in a cheerful mood at breakfast, though he had recently worried over business and farm issues. A daughter with her husband had been living with him, and the daughter near Raine was said to be dying. No reason for the act was known.

Naval Reserve Men May Seek Discharge Upon Application

Secretary of the Navy Josephus Daniels informs naval reservists that discharge from the Naval Reserve is possible by applying through the Commandant of the Naval District. Markel to Attend Pocatello Convention

A Filer Commercial Club representative plans to attend the commercial club secretaries and presidents convention set for May 4 and 5 at the Pocatello Chamber of Commerce.
