Local Track Meet At County Fair Grounds Set This Weekend

The Twin Falls county grade school athletic association will host a field day at the county fair grounds this weekend with many boys and girls in junior and senior events. A district meet Monday included local and five neighboring schools. Filer led with 27 of 32 eliminations. Lee Werts Will Munger and Owen Miller scored highly. Organizers R L Peck R H McAfee and J L Johnson oversee the event, which drew about five hundred spectators last year.

Commercial Contest at Buhl Saturday in Idaho

The high schools of south central Idaho hold a commercial contest at Buhl this Saturday with about 20 schools expected to compete in eight events including typewriting shorthand bookkeeping commercial arithmetic spelling and penmanship. Filer will enter all contests except second year shorthand with several students named in each event. Medals awarded positions and a school cap for top point totals, Twin Falls seeks a third consecutive cap.

May Day Program Here Tomorrow at Local School

Children from fourth to eighth grades under Miss Bery Downs present a may pole display tomorrow afternoon at 2 o clock. Seating is arranged for a large crowd and after the outdoor program visitors may inspect exhibits of school work from all grades.

The Filer Parent-Teacher Association meets at Contra School with an election of officers tonight. A varied program follows, with room exhibits from local grade schools and refreshments. The group formed last autumn and has improved school life, notably providing hot lunches through winter.

Cedar Draw Pupils Win County Honors

Cedar Draw pupils Louise Sipkens and Dorothy Metz top county eighth grade honors after exams held April 11 12 15 with Sipkens posting a county high 97 1 9 percent. Cedar Draw teacher W C Nuemen led the Cedar Draw school as class instructor and principal. Some districts did not participate in the county test.

Mrs Ada Glenn and Z M Lester were married at Twin Falls Saturday by Provost Jude O P Duvall. They plan to live here and continue in plastering work. Neighbors greeted the newlyweds with a charivari at their Main Street home Monday night.

Peter Nine Wins Prom Kimberly

The Kimberly game was postponed due to Jerome Priday's scheduling conflicts. The locals traveled to Kimberly yesterday and won 7 to 4. The next contest is slated for Friday May 11, with Hagerman supplying funds.

Community Baby Health Talks At Local Halls

The Filer Woman's club invites mothers to an open meeting May 9 at 2 20 PM at Odd Fellows hall. Dr Cloucheck of Twin Falls will discuss care of prospective mothers and Dr Davis of Kimberly will cover care of children including babies. A health conference for mothers with children under two follows May 10 from 10 AM to 1 PM at Rural High School. Trained nurses will examine babies and advise on health and hygiene.

John Deklotz wins the handicap trapshooting event at Palis Rod and Gun club on the Dun dah grounds north of Twin Fells. He leads Class A with a 24 of 25 score, defeating rivals as crowds attend the Sunday morning shoot.

Idaho reclamation official outlines vast American Falls reservoir project and Minidoka extension. District covers 487,524 acres across six counties, with 1923–24 recommended funding reaching about 11.5 million for Minidoka extension and dam expansion to full storage capacity, plus 9 million for initial dam. The Rural high school hosts the Junior-Senior banquet Friday at 6 50 PM. High Schools Tie For First In District Meet

Twin Falls and Rupert tied for first with 31 points each at the Booth Centras district track meet held last Friday at the county fairgrounds. Long of Rupert led with 14 points, while Aman and Timm were hampered by illness. Reay won the mile, and Rupert earned the loving cup over Twin Falls after 130 athletes from 12 schools competed.

New Tax Law Cuts Penalty on Back Taxes

Ada county Ada County Tax Collector Emma L Warren announces a new law affecting delinquent taxes from 1922 reducing penalties. The change drops the six percent penalty and lowers interest to seven percent on original tax amounts, pending possible constitutional challenges.
