Dr Goode Attending Idaho Dental Association Course

Dr M J Goode secretary of the Idaho State Dental Association attends the second annual post graduate course in Horseshoe Bend area this week with courses by Dr Dunbar Dr McClelland Dr Arthur Smith and others from Kansas City Missouri and Chicago Dentists from across the state and neighboring regions attend the event, which closes Saturday night. Goode helped organize the association and is credited with making the graduate courses successful, having served as secretary for two years.

Hammerquist Building Ready for Occupancy

WH Scott the tailor and the Ei khorn Creamery company expect to occupy their new quarters in the recently completed Hammerquist building the first of the week. The Scott tailoring shop will occupy the east half while the produce company uses the west half. The brick structure was built for these two concerns with features of marked convenience. The building is bidfort one story high and composed of brick. Southers Idaho Brick wed Tile company had the construction contract. Goodpasture and Wires did the carpenter and deleting work.

Directed Verdict Rendered in Blakeslee Suit

A directed verdict was issued by Judge W A Babowek in the Blakeslee v Bruce and Smith case, restoring disputed land near the rim east of town. Blakeslee’s attorney W D Gillie commented for Mtakeniew. H A Frame was not involved.

Legion Conducts Military Burial For Ex Soldier Shirk

The American Legion post at Filer Idaho staged the first local military funeral for Elbert S. Shirk who died at a tuberculosis hospital in Port Whipple Arizona on June 19. The service featured a firing squad, color guard, and a full Legion ritual with burial at LO O F cemetery. Shirk, born December 1 1896 in Oakka Missouri, served in France and died at government hospital. He is survived by his parents, a brother Harvey, and several relatives.

Appeal Urges Immediate Voter Registration For Bond Election

Village clerk Frank Albin appeals to taxpayers to register at once for the upcoming July 12 bond election. Officials note low registration and emphasize the $10,000 issue to fund fire equipment and Main Street water mains, with $6,900 for mains and $3,560 for a fire truck or equivalent equipment.

District Meet of Odd Fellows and Rebekahs in Twin Falls

Nearly two hundred attend the joint Odd Fellows and Rebekahs meeting held at the Odd Fellows hall. Highlights included welcomes by Col EO Walter and Mrs McMillan, with reports by district deputies and an evening program of music and speeches. Plans were discussed for a settlers caravan reception at the county fair grounds with a mid August arrival by auto via Yellowstone Park, drawing many families and featuring a round up and Western demonstrations.

Village Board Orders Main Street Paving for Improvement District

The village of Filer trustees adjourned Tuesday night approving ordinance to form Local Improvement District No 1 for graded paved surface drainage on Main Street. Engineering and village officials will determine assessments by frontage and benefit. Bond vote set for July 12 delaying pipe work. paving completion expected by late August or September with uncertain final finish. Derrick Falls Injure Two Men in Near Tragedy

Two workers were seriously injured when a derrick collapsed at a Twin Falls construction site near Namenger, causing the rig to strike several backs. The accident occurred Wednesday. rescuers reported both men non fatal injuries though in pain and hospitalized for observation.

A heartfelt community tribute honors Bomar a young man who fell in service to his country. Friends many from Ontario attended floral gestures and mourned his loss with the Legion post and local women leading efforts to pay last respects.
