Auto Accident Puts Salesman in Hospital

E. Montieth traveling representative for Davidson Grocery of Reise is hospitalized after a crash near here early yesterday. He was driving from Buh to Filer at 1 30 am when he hit a curve and crashed into a barbed wire fence, damaging the car and injuring his chest and face. Mr. Morris of Bull carried him to Munyon rooms and Dr. F A Dwight treated his facial cuts.

Better Times Indicated by New Car Sales

There have been no less than 14 new automobiles and trucks purchased by residents this spring. The Ford leads in notes and local dealer J. C. Riechers notes that already seven times more cars and trucks have sold than in all of 1922. Ford buyers include N. B. Keeney & Son Inc, Isaac Buhler, Stella Macaw, M Maurer, E. B. Clark Seed Co, Wertz, Filer Highway district, Kirkpatrick, McKinley, Harley Gambrel, Fred Winkover, and others. The Filer Auto company sold eight vehicles to Hollister and Castleford residents, with another carload due soon. additional owners include Dr. F. A. Dwight, W. D. Gillis, and C. J. Childs.

National Commander of Legion Stirs Boise Audience

W. D. Gillis joined a Boise visit by local and state Legion officials to hear American Legion Commander Alvin Owsley speak from the capitol steps. A Boise banquet honored Owsley as a leading orator. Gillis led a county delegation and extended an invitation for a future interdate visit.

Sisters Take Over Wendell Facility to House Elderly

Sisters of Benedictine, Walburga and Trowina sod Notbare, have arrived in Wendell and taken charge of the Wendell Inn closed after BE Williams vacated a year ago. They plan purchasing the property to convert it into Saint Valentine Home for aged and invalid people.

Announcement states Twin Falls will host the county’s only Fourth of July celebration in the county seat. Officials expect a townwide event with community participation and local preparations underway.

Harding Sets Idaho Stop On Alaska Trip Itinerary

President Harding will visit Idaho in late June with two appearances in Pocatello and Idaho Falls on June 28 as he travels to the Pacific coast for his Alaskan trip. He will speak in five coast cities on return. The capital city was removed from the stops. Local residents in Filer and nearby towns plan to greet him at Pocatello.

Buhl Woman Takes Life By Poison Route

A Buhl woman, Mrs Frank Hack, took poison after worry over a neighbor settlement. Her body was found by her husband at home Saturday afternoon, locked inside, after he returned from Twin Falls. A German letter reportedly explained the motive for the self infliction, carbolic acid causing death. Her clothing was neatly arranged and other details prepared before her death. The body was moved to Ruge undertaking parlors in Buhl and funeral services were held there.

Cheese Factory at Buhl Makes Two Cars Monthly

The Bubl cheese factory and the Sandmeyer plant east of town have boosted output since opening the old creamery on Seventh street. About 72,000 pounds of milk arrive daily across both operations, with four workers transforming it into approximately 1,200 pounds of cheese daily, about one carload every 16 days. Dairy manager B. F. P. Delxman says markets exist in Bubl and the Twin Pally tract, with shipments to Pocatello Idaho, Butte Montana, Portland and Seattle, plus recent orders to Los Angeles. Milk suppliers have received 42 cents per pound for butterfat and routes pay 16 cents per hundred pounds for delivery, with 90 pounds of whey free. Patrons may draw and Clover serve the factory, and inspections are welcome.

County to Rename Hospital The Twi Falls General Hospital

The county commissioners voted to add General to the name of the county hospital, now The Twi Falls County General Hospital, to avoid misreading as a private or forbidden institution. County official T Dan Connor cited concern that the former name implied a nonpublic or restricted facility and deterred people from seeking care.

Conference of Mennonites Well Attended in Idaho

About 60 delegates from Idaho Montana and Oregon attend the Pacific Coast conference of the Mennonite church and Sunday schools at East Mennonite church this week. Meetings run from Monday to Friday with diverse programs including Sunday school, workers, mission board and sewing circle sessions.
