Ice Caves North Shoshone Draws Throngs Of Visitors

The Shoshone sea cave north of town attracted around a hundred visitors last Sunday with a steady flow Friday through Sunday. Tourists arrive from Twin Falls and American Falls to view the lava burns trail and the ice cave entrance at the west side of Timmerman hill road. The cave features a main passage about 100 yards long with several side rooms, icy floors, and walls of frost, requiring lanterns or flashlights. some visitors have caused fires inside, prompting calls for better access and signage.

G O P Women to Organize in Tei Falla District

Miss Gladys Terhune of Tei Falla state Republican committee woman visited Tuesday to aid organizing the Republican Women's club. A meeting is set for Friday evening at the central school where a club is expected to be formed and a speaker will address attendees.

Holmes Sells Yakima Residence to Recent Arrival

A. N. Holmes sold his Yakima avenue home to John Armour, father of Mrs. J. T. Greenwood, who recently arrived from Oklahoma. The cash deal totaled 4500 dollars. The property lies on the east side of the street curving Rural high school and is among the town’s desirable residences. Holmes plans to buy a 40 acre farm near here and the family will remain in Filer.

Election of Staff of Teachers for Grades Complete

The Independent School board filled the teachers corps at its regular meeting Tuesday evening. Lois Anderson was elected to the fourth grade to replace Warren C Nugman who resigned for health reasons. The completed staff includes Nugman, Hart, Van Akin, Marguer, Farley, and Stevens. The board approved the annual financial report of the clerk and acting clerk Rupert L Peck and transacted routine business.

Theatre Reopens After Extensive Restoration Under New Owner

The Gem theatre is undergoing major repairs under new proprietor Don Snyder. The building is being reshaped renovate and redecorated with a newly painted curtain while the lobby is remodeled. Work precedes the opening of the house on Tuesday next with Foolish Mothers scheduled.

Eight Filerites Enter Next Primary Race

Eight residents of the Filer district filed for office on the three Hokets amid the upcoming August 5 primary. Six run unopposed, with two facing rivals: T. E. Moore opposed by CT. Bracken for sheriff and D. F. Detweiler opposed by 0. M. Etter for commissioner from the second district on the Progressive ticket. Ivan G. Lincoln also seeks the nomination on the Republican ticket. Several unopposed candidates may face write-ins as filings continue. Fewer than 100 voters have registered for the Aug 2 close, signaling low interest and enabling only registered voters to vote.

Publication Suspended By Hubl Publishing Company

The Hubl Publishing company suspended publication of the Buhl Republication on July 1 and closed their print shop. Frank W. Brown, former secretary to Gov. D. W. Davis and now publisher of a weekly at Pocatello, is named principal stockholder and will devote all time to the Huht National Farn assocation where he serves as secretary.

Broken Wheel Triggers Severe Wreck Near Burley

A front wheel break caused a serious automobile crash east of Burley as Mrs. Cora Woodruff Mrs. Flora Dickanan and L C Gillilan along with Mr Gillilan and others returned from Blackfoot. Mrs Woodruff suffered facial injuries Mrs Dickanan nearly lost an ear and Mr Gillilan sustained a severed artery. The party rode a train home Wednesday while Mr Gillilan remained in Durley to recover. The car was heavily damaged and the accident prompted Dr. Gillilan to travel to the scene.

Eighty Miles an Hour Puts Auto in Side Ditch

A high speed crash occurred on a slate highway near town when a large machine driven by an unnamed woman attempted to pass another eastbound vehicle. Speedometer read 80 mph. A lighter car entered from a road. the racing car swerved into the ditch to avoid a broadside collision, causing extensive damage but no serious injuries.

Former Filer Boy Joins Boston Tourists Westward

Raleigh Drake, former Filer Boy, leads a nine person party of Boston tourists touring Yellowstone Grand Canyon and West Coast destinations. They began June 27 from Boston, stopovers include Colorado Springs Promontory, Grand Canyon, Los Angeles, San Diego, Mexico, then Seattle and return via Canadian Pacific. Drake manages travel, lodging, budgets, and schedules for the group.

Murders and drownings shock Idaho town in one week

A string of deadly incidents in Idaho includes Clem Adame of American Falls drowning himself near the Snake River after planning to tell his wife of a proposed act, and 21 year old Noy Callahan killed by a shotgun explosion near Hagerman. A third case reports a murder tied to an orchard trigger device and an Austrian, Kobylak, linked to a separate Arctic of crime in Arco area.

Kiwanis Convention Report At Denver June Meeting

A detailed report on the International Kiwanis Convention held in Denver was presented at the Twin Falls club luncheon. Frank J. Than, past president, and John Graham attended, with Graham also at the luncheon. J Feldhusen of Twin Falls High School spoke as guest, and P. Ii. I received the attendance prize.
