A Fourth of July picnic closed the county fair with a prime lunch and afternoon games. The main event was a ball game between Filer and Twin Falls churches, won by Filer nine. A large crowd attended.
Clarence W. Cas was taken to Twin Falls general hospital Wednesday and operated on for appendicitis at about noon. He is reported to be progressing as well as could be expected.
Idaho farmers can irrigate with less water than usual and still expect near normal crops. Use large heads to reach lower ends quickly, then reduce flow to avoid waste. Water penetrates soil faster downward than sideways, so apply efficiently. University of Idaho agricultural engineering department offers help with irrigation questions.
W P Sinn, a pioneer resident and former postmaster, filed for county treasurer on the Democratic ticket with the county recorder late Saturday. He previously served as treasurer of Adama county, Iowa, and will be unopposed in the August 5 primary.
