Welty Buys High Priced Herefords at Cambridge Sale
Seth Welty of south of Castleford purchased five Registered Hereford cattle at the Mousel Brothers sale in Cambridge Nebraska for under 2600 dollars per head. He sold one bull for 400 dollars more than his purchase price and plans to ship four registered animals to Butt soon, entering the pure bred Hereford business. The two-day sale January 6 and 7 reported 172 registered Herefords sold at an average 2420 dollars, totaling 416,240 dollars, described as the world’s greatest cattle sale with a top bull at 22,000 dollars and an average of 4700 dollars for bulls. Mousel Brothers started small with two heifers and a grand champion steer at Chicago, now among the nation’s biggest Hereford breeders.
