Idaho Beet Sugar Factory to BeBuilt Near Pier

Idaho Beet Sugar Company purchased 31 acres of land one mile west of Pier at the Inter station of the OS. Ly eight of way and Cedar Draw for a million dollar beet sugar factory. Engineers for the I Railroad surveyed spur and trackage. W. Woolf appointed president and manager to supervise machinery shipments from New York. Woolf and Wilman returned from the east with investor interest. Factory capacity planned to rise to 700 tons with operation expected this fall. Residents of Filer sense strong optimism amid favorable developments and high sugar prices.

Court ruling defines bona fide canal stockholders

Judge W A Babcock in Twin Falls district court sustained parts of the Canal company demurrer in the case of Frank DeKlote et al v Twin Falls Canal Co. The ruling holds that only stockholders of record may vote in the director election and that those who sold land or water rights but remain on the stock list are still eligible to vote. The petition’s broad claim of 75,000 votes by nonstockholders is rejected as the stockholders of record should vote. The case is set for trial after amendments. In a separate note, plans to fund a sewer system for Filer surface with a $50,000 fund and a $76,000 project cost are discussed at a Filer Commercial club meeting.

The Grive campaign netted $103.54 from 1 754 Red Crane Christmas stamps sold in Filer during December. Jinx for Jack Johnson at Auto Bervier station

Jack Johnson of the Auto Bervier service was exposed to gas while repairing a water system in the basement of the William Walter home north of town. He inhaled gas after his head nearly touched the ceiling and was unable to resume duties for a couple of days.

Sheep sale dispute faces district court action

Sherman Detweiler amid a contract dispute with James and Reicher over sale of blooded sheep seeks 1227 dollars in judgment. The case stems from an agrarian gathering in Wendell where stockmen discussed welfare of Idaho livestock, with officials and farmers from Twin Falls and Gooding counties attending the banquet at the Wendell Law building.
