County Farm Bureau Makes Big Showing
The Twin Palle County Farm Bureau reports a strong year in 1919 with extensive grain grants, fruit farming progress, and expert visits to educate farmers. It highlights Edna Ludwig leading country women in rose forts saving about $3900, the Child Welfare program, rural school lunches, and a robust Junior program with 10 clubs and notable prize winners. The year’s measurable outputs include 645 bushels corn, 1046 bushels potatoes, 2068 quarts preserved, and substantial meat and canned goods production, with a total product value around 950,892. The letter notes broad public-sphere tax pressures and a taxpayer’s protest against ongoing levies and government measures.
