$300 Radio Set to Be Given Away Christmas Eve

Hundreds of people will gather in Filer on Christmas Eve to win a $300 super-heterodyne radio through a public drawing. The method will be decided by the crowd, as in past drawings, with a winner chosen by a chosen ticket number. Local businesses provide the prize and issue duplicate coupons with each 5 cent purchase.

Wildcats Win In First Basketball Games Of Season

The Wildcats opened the season with a 20 to 11 victory over Hollister Kuraigh as both boys and girls teams played. Key players included Hall Hamline Darnall Moore Grim and Shinn Adkins Patten Diehl Bhino with the girls routing Weir Hollister 28 to 5 led by Dicksey Knypetts Doud McCreary Buchanan and Griggs. Idaho Falls slated to visit on January 2. locals reported duck hunting on Snake River after the game.

Three pair of silver foxes arrive for farm care

The Northwestern Silver Fox company brings three pair of silver foxes to Takima avenue kennels managed by Dr. T. J. Cartney. The shipment comes from Rest Inland, Alabama. The company owns additional pairs and the foxes will stay locally as stated.

Zero Weather Brings Zero Cold To Local Area

After weeks of mild to springlike conditions, a sudden Tuesday night drop sent temperatures to the zero mark or below. The cold snap, following light snow and a bitter wind, caused no major damage but brought great discomfort and annoyance to residents.

Highway gap completed on two mile stretch

It was announced that work has been completed on the two mile gap of state highway on the west end of the district the last load of gravel having been placed the first of the week. The highway was built by C A Robinson under gravel authorities state that with the completion of this project a practically uninterrupted hard surfaced roadway now extends from Granger Wyoming to Portland Oregon.

Farmer Lost Hand In Corn Huller Accident

William J. Holmes a Cedar Draw district farmer was injured when his hand was caught in a corn huller Friday. Multiple bones in the hand were broken and the forearm was torn and bruised as power operated the machine without his knowledge. He is hospitalized with serious injuries.

Filer business men plan to restart the Farmers' Free Matinee Saturdays beginning this week. In cooperation with Gem theatre manager D. J. Snyder, the old institution returns after a pause. Tickets are available from local businesses and open to residents outside town.

Highline Project Seeks Canal System Integration

Clover district operates the Highline pumping plant southwest of here has asked Twin Falls Canal company board for entry into the main system. They would cover pumping plant costs plus regular maintenance while the sun pays for water at the plant and has a separate organization. The matter was referred to the January stockholders meeting without recommendation after extensive discussion. Manager Burton Smith of Twin Falls Canal company plans a few days to review this and other matters. The George Anthony family moved into the former Sweet property this week. The former Snyder residence on Yakima Avenue, vacated by the Anthonys, will be occupied by Mr and Mrs E J Jenkins from Twin Falls. Mr Jenkins is linked with his son Gleon in the Jenkine Auto company.

Newberry Elected Worshipful Master in Lodge Installations

At Thursday night’s annual election Dr A A Newberry was chosen worshipful master, succeeding Karl 8 La Hue who has led the lodge for the past year. Twenty local woolgrowers will receive around fifteen thousand dollars from the wool pool sale of about two thousand head of sheep.
