Last week’s Record sent to all states and foreign countries with 1500 copies. Despite heavy construction hindrances at the office, demand soars and the Filer Commercial Club plans to publish a condensed pamphlet of the issue for wider distribution.
The village board, by incorporating the Munyon addition south of town, opens Union Avenue this week as a new residence street one block west of Yakima Avenue. L. D. Allen, street commissioner, directs crews laying the street, extending to the F Graves ranch. Electric lights, cement sidewalks, and the water system are planned for the addition, with several new homes already rising since the 62 lots were sold last summer.
Students and faculty of Rural High school appeared in overalls and denim Tuesday morning as part of a clothing strike against high woolen clothing prices. The effort symbolized solidarity with a broader movement, with many wearing khaki and denim.
HG Masyon informed the Herald last evening that he sent telegraphic information to the sanitary department at Boise, advising them of the sewerage situation and a desire to see conditions improved. Mr Manron faces ailment with the rooming house rear and believes a sewer system is the sole solution to Filer's sanitary problem.
An inter church mass meeting was held at the Baptist church last night. Addresses were delivered by Rev. C. W. Harris of Boise and evangelist Willey of Pocatello. Lantern slides were shown to illustrate the sentiments.
Thirty eight students from rural schools competed Saturday to show proficiency in drawing arithmetic spelling and story telling. L B Brar of Twin Falls High School supervised the event with I Ault addressing contestants from across the county. Winners include Kathryn Logan Ormond Thomas Ina Campbell Golda Smith James Woolsey Treven Davin Nuth Woolley Stolla Strong with honorable mentions and judges Mamie Buyer Julia Helzinger Harriet Pettijohn.
The Twin Falls Canal company and the federal Reclamation Service agreed to impound and deliver 100000 acre feet of water for Twin Falls tract patrons. J C Wheelon says this marks a key early step toward building the big government reservoir at American Falls. Other irrigation firms in the area plan similar pledges to back the Minidoka extension project and anticipation grows for further guarantees.
Through Rep Addison T. Smith the record office has another bag of government seed. Varieties include beans beets cucumbers lettuce tomatoes carrots radishes peas onions and corn. This is the second bag each seed has been received and is being given away free to record readers. Those previously unable to secure packages can now write for Uncle Sam’s needed supplies.
Taylor and his son William plan a modern shop at the Cooper Case Anderson plant on East Main Street opening around May 1. They will offer auto repair, lathe work, drilling, planing, woodwork, blacksmithing and welding with extensive equipment, aiming to produce truck beds and other parts and expand into general machine shop services.
The second regular meeting of the Twin Falls county teachers association will be held at the Twin Falls School on April 7 from 1 to 4 pm. Leona Logue of Gooding College and Beth Redheld of Morse will be present. The public is invited to attend.
E. J. Malone of Filer has been appointed county director for the eight-state western division campaign running from April 25 to May 2. Northern Baptists aim to raise about $199.006.000 with a western quota of $5.452.000. Funds will be raised across California and western states including Oregon, Idaho, Utah, Montana, Arizona, Nevada, Washington.
Salt Lake business men postpones their planned excursion to southern Idaho as railroad emergencies compel delay. Sam K. Smith of Salt Lake Wholesale Trades cites burden on railroads and says officials would move the train if needed, but the trip is put off for a future date. Willem Munce chairs the local committee. when held, the Salt Lake group will be hosted by the Filer Commercial club.
The switchmen strike disrupts freight movement nationwide causing delays in transit and local depots. Merchants face shortages of merchandise, building projects stall, and livestock and produce shipments are held up awaiting final adjudication amid ongoing disruption.
Twin Falls area dental society meets at Filer Monday evening with Dr J F Johnson of Twin Palette demonstrating nerve blocking. All district members expected to attend to discuss efficiency of current dental work.
The marriage of Miss Lenore Brive of Filer to Mr Walter Glens Smith occurred yesterday at 10 am in the Baptist church Camel Great. The groom, long with Wright's store, is well known in Filer. The bride, a popular Filer girl, will reside at 10 Seventh Avenue. A bridal luncheon followed at the bride’s new home.
A suit filed by J. W. Hays targets the Twin Falls Times and Denton over a promissory note of $1009. Denton allegedly held the note for the paper’s benefit and to be returned when due, with Hays implying he would not pay. The complaint notes the Times capital stock rose to 75,900 while earlier capitalization was $2,000, diluting shares to about ten cents on the dollar.
A Burley ceremony initiating a class of 65 new Elks members was highlighted by a parade with nearly 1600 participants. Delegations traveled from Twin Falls, Boise, Salt Lake, Butte, Ogden, Idaho Falls, and Pocatello to attend, and a special train carried the Twin Falls group back after midnight.
W Bates of Wilder Idaho leads a proposed Federation of Farmers to defend farmer interests. The plan aims to raise farm product prices, enact fair laws, safeguard investment, align labor costs with product value, and create a national system for crop yields livestock data packing and marketing to stabilize prices and enable access to affordable farm machinery.
There will shortly be several hundred head of government cavalry horses stationed at the Twin Palle county fair grounds to organize a Twin Palle cavalry troop. A company of 67 men is to be recruited with Mounts stabled here year round except during the fair month. Headquarters will be in Twin Pairs with space reserved. Government bears entire expense including purchase and upkeep of horses and equipment. Local supporters consider the movement of no great importance to the community.
Davie of North Yakima dies of heart failure aged stated in the report. Funeral services held last Thursday in Yakima city. He was a veteran bee master and authority in the home business, with two sons Pasiding and G. Co Davie unable to attend.

RH McAtee, Mares principal, bought a 1912 Ford driven 1700 miles from Illinois to Idaho. The car, said to be worn out, has performed well for three years. The couple plans another trip to Idaho and Illinois and may advertise the car for sale after summer. The Record hints the vehicle shows signs of wear as time passes.
