John B. Seger sold his farm this week to Mr. Gasser of Troy. A public auction of Seger’s personal property is scheduled for Tuesday February 23, 1909. The itemized notices also mention various local real estate sales and upcoming events in Ferdinand and nearby towns.
Personal Frank Reckelhoff left for Louisville and Cincinnati Monday morning to buy spring goods. A string of visitors and locals like Loth Nord, Leo Bumm, and many others came through town over the weekend with business, funerals, or to visit relatives. Several attendees traveled to Louisville, Evansville, Cincinnati, or Huntingburg, and several attended the funeral of John Schlachter.
A large crowd filled the school hall last Sunday as a new orchestra delivered a strong program. Augusta Knapp and Minnie Seger performed duets and solos with Cornelia Beckmann accompanying on piano and Gustav Woerter on violin. The diverse lineup included vocal solos, a trio, and a bass solo with encore numbers pleasing attendees and signaling potential for a local theatrical club.
The Fer dinand Railway construction crew has been laying between three fourths and a mile of rails daily. A softened road near Hoing school stalled the engine last Friday. after repairs Saturday, work resumed Monday. Rain delayed progress Monday and Tuesday, reaching Greens Creek by Tuesday evening and near the Princeton road by Wednesday evening as of Thursday noon.

Beyke visited yesterday evening to inspect Tripoli and yellow ochre on his farm. Valentine Fleig and Henry Haller of Melhrad were in town yesterday.
An incident at a Perry County machine shop nearly saw Theodore Peters lose a pocket knife after a coworker saw a man hide it on his person. Peters warned the thief, who denied the theft until Peters retrieved the item. the matter was resolved without further action.
Henry Fritch former county poor asylum superintendent pleaded guilty to assaulting a man named Ackerly who called him a liar. Fritch was fined in Squire Betz's court. Johnny Ponch, a St. Anthony saloon operator without a license, was arrested on three bench warrants.
