River Packet Planned on Missouri River Route
A proposed fast steamer service on the Missouri River between St. Joseph and Omaha will carry freight and passengers. Captain Joseph Kiefer will command the craft, currently named the steamship Harry, to be overhauled and ready by October 15. The line will stop at White Cloud Fargo Nebraska City and other river towns, handling livestock hay grain and wood. Farmers north and east of Falls City could ship by boat reducing overland hauling and boosting local land values. Arago now Fargo may revive and resemble former prosperity with a river port centerpiece.
