Decoration Day observance in city amid weather worries
Decoration Day events moved from the cemetery to the courthouse. A full crowd heard selections by the double quartet, prayers by Rev. Mastin, Lincoln Gettysburg address by Rev. Funeral of Jake Majerus Ends Week of Search
After a week of diligent searching, the body of Jake Majerus was found Saturday morning about a half mile from last seen, by John Heikes who rowed the river. The Catholic church service was led by Father Bex, with schoolboy friends as pallbearers, and burial followed at Rule cemetery.

Weaver Declines Congressional Candidacy Plan
The News reports A. J. Weaver will not run for Congress against Pollard. Longtime Speiser Township Resident John U Beutler Dies
John U Beutler, a native of Switzerland born in 1582, died at his brother Sam Beutler Jr's home in Speiser township. He lived here since the 1850s, remained unmarried, and is survived by relatives in the county. Funeral services were held at Salem Reformed church at 11 o'clock conducted by Rev Julius Volprecht.

John Nulk Dies After Ill Health in Texas
John Nulk, longtime Falls City resident, died Wednesday evening in Texas where he had been seeking renewed health. He was married about five or six years ago to Jessie Morton. The couple moved to Muskogee Oklahoma three years ago to pursue real estate before his illness. He was a member of the local K P and Royal Highlander lodges. Funeral details had not been announced at press time.

City Council Plans Sidewalk Work and Appoints New Water Commissioner
The city council met in regular session with all members present. It directed the city clerk to notify north side property owners on Sth street from Fulton to the city limits to build walks per ordinance. Bids for foundations for the light and water plant were carried over due to a slight misunderstanding. The resignation of Water Commissioner B. J. Reays was accepted and N. T. VanWinkle was approved as his successor. The council adjourned to meet again Friday to let bids and pay claims.
