Republican County Convention Nominates C. F. Reavis for Congress

Richardson county Republicans meet in city to endorse C. F. Reavis for Congress in Nebraska’s First District. The ballot shows 223 votes for Reavis and 10 for nobody, with Harbaugh casting the anti-Reavis tally. Delegates and county committee are named, including W. K. Dorrington as chair.

Decoration Day Observation By Local G A R And WR C

Last Tuesday the 30th Decoration day was observed by the G A R and WR C in this city. A morning gathering at the G A R hall featured music prayers and a short address. The group then paraded to Steele cemetery for graves of comrades and soldiers wives to be decorated. About thirty veterans attended. In the evening Capt Grinstead of Humboldt gave a lecture at the G A R hall on the Philippines illustrated with views and curios.

Falls City Colts Lose 1–0 to Highland in Exciting Game

Last Tuesday at two o'clock Falls City Colts faced Highland in a tight baseball contest, Highland winning 1 to 0 as Thornberg stood out with a three base hit. A large crowd saw the close battle. The Colts later played Stella on Wednesday, losing 6 to 2 after Clarence Heck sprained an ankle in the seventh inning.

Heacocks Elevator Burns in Early Morning Fire

Last Wednesday at about four o'clock the fire bell rang signaling a blaze at P. F. Heacock's elevator. Citizens rushed to the scene to fight the flames and protect nearby buildings as the fire spread.

Elevator Fire Destroys Heacock Grain Facility

A Tuesday blaze consumed the Heacock elevator collapsing the dry structure with several thousand bushels of grain inside. Insurance listed at 4000 for the building and 2000 for the grain, with total loss estimated near 11000. The origin remains unknown as no fire was detected earlier that day.

Falls City Commencement Closes Successful School Year

The Falls City school ends summer break after a highly successful year with an audience at the opera house. Students presented class history poems essays orations and a play under purple and white decor. Teachers pupils and patrons praised the program as one of the best ever.
