Uncle George Grinstead possesses two copies of the Philanthropist published February 3 and February 10, 1837 by the Anti Slavery Society of Ohio. The papers, once owned by N W Jones of Glasscock Kentucky, are in good condition though yellowed, reflecting Kentucky anti slavery sentiment at the time.

A business advocate argues that Falls City must borrow money and issue stock to double water and electric capacity. City Council met in regular session with little business of note. It voted to supply the chau tauqua association with water and light and to have the park pay for labor on laying water mains from Chase street to the park. The bond canvassing committee report was reviewed, with recommendations given elsewhere. The council adjourned to meet on July 15 in the council chamber.
