Dr W Boose on a country call was jolted when the buggy front collapsed at Buckholz corner three miles northeast of town. He escaped with a badly bruised arm after being thrown from the rig. The Mertz barn team pulled two miles before stopping.

Elizabeth Catherine Jones born March 1 1881 Pendleton County Virginia died December 24 1906 age 75 years 9 months 23 days. She married Thomas H Duncan in Franklin County Missouri in November 1847 and had eight children two sons and six daughters. Surviving children are Edward Duncan Lewiston Nebraska Uriah Duncan Rule Mrs Ellen McDonnald Chester Nebraska Mrs Emily Heater Hunnerwell Kansas Mrs Margaret Bush Preston and Mrs Iola Martin Rule A sister Mrs Emily Cramer Auburn plus relatives. She later married Josiah Chambers in 1873 who died in 1881. Member of the M E church for over fifty years. Funeral conducted at the M E church by Rev Maze at Rulo with interment in Rulo cemetery.

Conflagration Threat Traced to Cook Stove and Flue
A nighttime fire at Mrs. G. Elliott's residence caused extensive interior damage though the outside was largely spared. Firefighters and neighbors assisted in evacuating Mrs. Elliott, a nurse who had been caring for the late Mrs. Maddox, as the blaze spread from coals and a faulty flue.

In a guessing contest at A. E. Schmidt meat market last week the large dressed beef weighed 350 pounds. Mr. Klumm of Lyon's bakery guessed 350.5 pounds, within half a pound of the actual weight. He won a ten pound roast. Four others were within one pound.
