Falls City stenographer sails with fleet to San Francisco

Thurston McCoy of Falls City serves as stenographer on the battleship Georgia. He travels with the street fleet via Cape Horn toward San Francisco. Mrs McCoy has several photos showing him in a blue sailor suit by a rapid fire gun. The voyage promises a grand experience for the young man.

Local Couple Marries Christmas Eve in Lincoln

Clarence Burchard and Maud McKelvie wed at 5 o clock Christmas Eve at the bride's Lincoln home. The groom is the youngest son of Dr and Mrs Burchard of this city. The bride was formerly a public school student and has many friends here. The Tribune offers congratulations to the newlyweds.

Prof Harnack leaves for Hiawatha to lead band

The city of Hiawatha grants Prof. Harnack a billiard hall license to attract him as leader of the First Regiment band, while our city hopes to retain him as director. Christmas Eve activities across churches followed by varied programs. joy and goodwill noted in all congregations.

Obituary of Catherine Suess of Arago and Falls City

Catherine Suess born September 22 1843 in Graben Baden Germany died December 16 1907 in Falls City Nebraska. She came to the United States in 1861 lived in Cook County Illinois and moved to Arago Nebraska that December. She married August Suess December 15 1861 and had six children two sons and one daughter survive with a sorrowing husband and many relatives. Funeral services conducted by Rev Ino Nanninga and M Manshardt followed the Evangelical Association service.

Society notes detail a masquerade by K and L of S No 610 last Thursday with refreshments and a cheerful program. Friends in Council met Friday at Miss Anna Shaffer to discuss current events and hear Mrs Davies on Shelly's Last Days followed by social time and refreshments.

The Odd Fellows will keep open house on New Year's day from 2 30 to 4 30 p m greeting friends. An evening entertainment follows for members and families. Elks Help Needy With Christmas Dinner Aid

The Elk lodge of this city ordered $50 in groceries for W. G. Lyford through Humane Officer Hershey. The next day Mr Hershey delivered Christmas dinners to 23 needy families, with candy for children added by Mr Lyford. The group embodies Charity Justice and Brotherly Love.

Joseph D Palmer 20 died December 22 after a bout with typhoid fever at home in Falls City Neb He was born October 22 1887 in Blue Mound Kansas Later lived in Stella and Falls City He was a drug clerk by trade and worked in St Joe before illness He leaves parents two sisters and three brothers with funeral at St Thomas Episcopal Church conducted by Rev G L Neide and burial in Steele Cemetery

Burlington to discontinue local passenger No 17 18 Rule Falls City

January schedule notes the Burlington will drop the Atchison Falls City local passenger Nos 17 and 18 between Rule and Falls City. Freight No 67 that carries passengers arrives Falls City at 6 40 a m and Denver passenger No 15 is about an hour behind this train. Two passenger trains follow the Atchison line at 4 p m reducing need for the Rule Falls City run without inconveniencing travelers.
