Change of venue in Skinner fraud case moved to Wapello

The Iowa case State v E H Skinner moved from this county to Wapello after court sustained the venue change bid. Judge Roberts heard affidavits from about 250 residents arguing prejudice and the transfer for trial was ordered. County Attorney E L McCord and W M Walker represented the state. J C Mitchell and W S Babb appeared for the defense.

Parole Denied for Oskaloosa Woman in 1904 Case

Des Moines reports Governor denies Josephine Wilson of Oskaloosa parole. Sentenced in November 1904 to five years for keeping a house of ill fame, she fails clemency appeal despite a flood of letters and petitions. Community divisions and strong feelings noted as decisive.

Des Moines Manager Griswold Brutally Murdered in Robbery

George R. Griswold, state manager for the State Mutual Life Association of Worcester, Massachusetts, was found murdered with his pockets turned inside out in the Raccoon River near Des Moines. He had been missing since Tuesday. his body was located last night.

Legacy funds for Christian home in Council Bluffs

Mrs Mary E Robinson of Sheboygan Wis left a 30000 legacy to the Christian home at Council Bluffs. Of this 10000 is to be paid by the executor now and the remainder available January 1. Funds will be used to build a large boys dormitory next year. The donor wished to remain anonymous but identity leaked. The Tribune urges subscriptions.
