Davenport Iowa September 20 Charles Hoffman son of George Hoffman a well known farmer near Long Grove jumped from a hay mow into a grain bin and landed on a pitchfork handle entering his body eight inches piercing the intestines. He was taken to Mercy hospital where he lingers between life and death.
Seymour Iowa September 21 James Ambury was killed in a mine by a fall of coal last night. In Sewall eight miles west Cecil Long son of Lewis Long was attempting to board a Milwaukee train when he was thrown under the train and his right leg was severed below the knee.
Montezuma Iowa September 21 jury returned a verdict for the plaintiff in the Strand versus Grinnell Garage company auto damage suit awarding 1519.50 for injuries when a runaway horse dragged the man 68 after a motor vehicle startled his horse en route to Marshalltown. Attorneys Boyd and Gray of Grinnell represented the plaintiff in a five day trial challenging the operator’s negligence.

Daily temperatures ran 3 to 5 degrees above normal and clear skies continued since the 10th.
