The Fairfield band, via its auxiliary, will stage a booster concert next Thursday evening at 8. A special program includes vocal selections with band accompaniment and several local singers led by Mrs. Ward. Warren Sparks, a popular boy vocalist, may also appear. The event closes with a pavement dance featuring esthetic and old time round dances called by Eli Blough.
Central park filled Sunday for a Royal Highlanders band concert under Fairfield Yeo man lodge auspices as a war relief benefit. Bobby Broller sang with encores while Prof Jewell and Clifford Thoma works drew applause. About $145 above expenses from tag sales was donated to the Red Cross.
In No Man's Land a volunteer patrol led by a 16 year old British veteran searches for missing comrades. They encounter a larger German force, with visibility limited and danger high as they crawl away to avoid gunfire. The close brush with discovery leaves the team shaken.

The Orpheum theatre will show Pershing's Crusaders Tuesday through Thursday next week. The government produced film explains aims and needs of the war effort and features General Pershing and American troops. It has premiered in major cities and will tour metropolitan and rural venues.
Signor Tolomeo, band director, has organized a ladies’ band at Carroll to furnish music for patriotic events. It is likely the group will be known as the Red Cross organization.
Fairfield public schools opened with a total enrollment of 1,287 led by a record high 121 member high school freshman class.
