Iowa farmers urged to test every ear of seed corn this spring as seed quality collapses. The Chicago, Burlington & Quincy line will run a Seed Corn and Soil Special train from Des Moines March 26 visiting eighty towns with lectures by Iowa State College extension staff and agronomists. Thomas Maxwell died at home on March 13 after a short illness. Born December 28, 1845 in Jefferson county Ohio, he moved to Fairfield as a child and spent his life there. He married Alice Black in 1873. they had three children Musa A Maxwell Lizzie Porter and Pha Maxwell. The wife died in 1882. Funeral was held Friday at the English Lutheran church with Rev Wolgemuth officiating. Interment followed at Evergreen cemetery.

William V. Moore died Wednesday morning March 13 at 9 30 in Mt. Pleasant hospital after months of ill health. Born in Keosauqua March 22 1854 he married Sarah Ward in 1876 and moved to Fairfield. Survived by wife two sons Leo E of Centerville and Harley H of Fairfield and the mother.
