Old and respected citizen dies pioneer of Iowa
Henry B. Mitchell a longtime Fairfield resident and pioneer of Iowa died aged about 94 at his daughter's home. Born July 5 1818 in New Hampshire he cleared and settled land near Fairfield and helped build a social and religious center for the community. He served in state and county offices, farmed scientifically and remained a trusted leader until his later years. Funeral services were held yesterday at 2:30 pm at A B Rogers home conducted by Dr. Thomas Osborn, with burial in Evergreen cemetery.
