Army sergeant Grant M. Anderson dies after illness
Grant M. Anderson died Sunday June 9 at his mother Mrs John Lindbom home on South H street after several months illness. Born February 16 1884 near Salina he served in the regular army and was a sergeant of the 33rd Coast Artillery at Fort Columbia Washington. He spent months in a government sanitarium in Arkansas before returning to Fairfield to be with his mother. His wife at Fort Columbia is expected to arrive soon and funeral likely Friday at the Lindbom home conducted by Dr Thomas Osborn. He survived by his wife two sisters Arch Jones Canada and Floyd Cushman Ottumwa a brother Elmer Anderson Delta Colorado a half brother Ellwood Lindbom his mother and stepfather John Lindbom.

Tragedy at Davenport Hydroplane Speed Trial
At Davenport on June 11 a hydroplane speed trial ended in disaster as 18 year old Raymond Garner of Rock Island Illinois drowned and G L Vivoman of Davenport nearly perished. Fearing Death Seymour Man Delivers Suicide Note to Police
