Miss Etna Buchanan was crowned Queen of the May, escorted by William and Virginia McKenzie, with the May pole dance and white pink and blue robes drawing cheers from a large crowd. Leper suspect returned home as quarantine case ends
Des Moines reports Herman Hirschfeldt leper suspect isolated in Centerville Iowa for weeks was secretly moved by car to Bay City Michigan at dawn. State health officials say he acted under authority of the Iowa board of health secretary Dr Sumner to remove the man who was previously denied admission by Michigan authorities. An accompanying Centerville marshal aided the motor trip despite railroad restrictions.
