In Charles City Iowa December 7 the court decreed the Cullen estate go to the heirs of Ray Eastman the son Cullen killed and the lynching followed. The award valued at about 4500 dollars represents most of what remained of James Cullen’s presumed wealth. Evidence showed Mrs Cullen urged breach of promise and sought his property amid ongoing money disputes. The ruling held Eastman’s death deprived him of future earnings.
