Iowa City meet yields two state records and one tie
In the fourth annual interscholastic track meet at Iowa City on Saturday Iowa athletes set two state records and one tie. Iowa City defeated Davenport 32 to 31, Cedar Rapids third, North Des Moines fourth, Marion fifth, Fairfield sixth. Seventeen of 25 schools scored. Fairfield's points included 100 yard dash Nady second and 440 yard dash Nady second plus R Holgate tied for third in high jump and a second in the half mile relay.

Augustus Case Dead Pioneer Settler of Jefferson County
A message from Mrs. Sam Turker announces the death of Augustus Case in Estherville after a period of poor health. He was about 69, a pioneer of Jefferson County long based in Glasgow before moving to Estherville. He leaves three sons George Winfield and Garfield. Funeral set for Tuesday at 10 AM at the family home, with interment in Estherville.

John Walmer Dies. Civil War Veteran of Cedar Township
Joseph Walmer died Monday in Cedar Township after an illness of some duration. He served in the Civil War with Company I, 45th Iowa Infantry. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at his home, with interment in Ankrom Cemetery. Pallbearers were A. W. Jaques, John McLean, C. L. Parrott, and John F. Loehr.

Uncle Jimmy Hedge Nearly Falls From Buggy In Local Accident
Black Hawk reports light showers and normal warmth helping crops. Uncle Jimmy Hedge narrowly escaped serious injury last week after leaving Regester's to buy tomato plants. He fell unconscious in the buggy, horse bolted, horse halted on a telephone pole, he was found by a passerby and recovered after brief care. He is staying with his daughter Mrs Werner east of town.

Death claims Sophia Dalmer longtime Jefferson County resident
Mrs. Sophia Duttweiler Dalmer died Sunday at her daughter Mrs. George Lundquist’s home in Germville after an illness. She was a well known Jefferson County resident with a large circle of friends. Funeral services were held Monday at Germville Methodist Church. Rev. R C Russell officiated and music came from a Richwa church quartet. Interment was in Germville cemetery. Born October 20 in New York, she lived in Iowa since age four. She married John Schmidt in 1835 and later George Dalmer in 1885. She leaves fourteen children, eight with the first husband and six with the second, plus many relatives in the county and beyond.
