Iowa Thrasher Associations Save Grain For War Effort
The United States Food Administration in Iowa under J K Deems formed thrasher associations across counties to reduce grain loss. About 250 000 workers harvest and thrashers could save 8 to 6 percent of wheat through better methods, potentially boosting yields by 600 000 bushels and revenue above $1 250 000. The agency has no authority over thrashing prices, leaving that issue to thrashers and grain owners.
