An Erie Store millinery parade offers hats for ladies misses and children at extreme prices. Rough and leafy Picnic Hats in all colors from 41 cents, pearl straw dress hats at 43 cents, bars hats from 2.30 and up, ladies garden hats at 10 cents.
President appoints internal revenue collectors and postmasters in Wisconsin Michigan Iowa and Kansas with several names listed. China offer to commander troops declined by Mosby while a coast defense board to meet June 8 at the War Department. Postmaster Meade asked to resign amid Copiah outrages murder allegations and a Treasury report favors silk fibre disposal.
The steamer City of Rome, from Liverpool to New York, struck the French fishing barque George Johns off Newfoundland in dense fog.
